Imagine navigating through a world that echoes the bizarre and surreal artistry of Salvador Dali, where reality warps and morphs, breaking the laws of physics and common sense. As players journey through these dreamlike environments, they will not only experience the surreal world but also have the power to reshape and bend the dream to their will.

And the dream unfolds

In Somnia, each level represents a short dream, similar to the mind-bending action scenes from the movie Inception. As a Dreamweaver, you are tasked with protecting key elements within each dream. Imagine safeguarding a mystical train journeying through an ever-morphing canyon. As the environment shifts and distorts, you must defend the train from bizarre obstacles to ensure it reaches the end of the level.

Master the Surreal

Players can cast intuitive, gesture-based spells that enhance the dreamlike gameplay. Each ability has multiple stages that can be unlocked through achievements in the game. Each stage is activated in-game by different gesture. As players progress, each stage of the ability will introduce additional layers of complexity and variety, enriching the gameplay and offering new strategic possibilities.

BLACK HOLE

Conjure a small black hole between your hands and throw it at obstacles. It will suck in everything close to it before evaporating, clearing the path forward.

THROWING HANDS

Throw your hand at distant objects and manipulate them to your will.

TIME WARP

Manipulate time by stopping or slowing it within a localized area, giving you the advantage to manage overwhelming situations.

Soar Through the Dreams

In Somnia, players can walk, jump, and climb, but the movement is reimagined with a in-house built gesture engine that replaces traditional button presses. This makes every action feel intuitive and natural. Imagine leaping into the air with a swift downward swing of your hands, or soaring through the skies by flapping your wings. Embracing the dreamlike theme of flight, players are equipped with wings and can use them to fly freely. Gain speed by flapping, and steer effortlessly up, down, or sideways by tilting your wings.

We are an indie studio from Slovakia. We are a group of friends that share an enthusiasm for VR games. Our story began by chance when one of us received a Quest 2 as a gift and we were amazed by the potential of VR. We had a vision of a game that was immersive with cool gestures and movements, visually impressive with surreal open environments and just fun to play. We realized together we might just have the skillset to build it. So, since we started, we have been putting a lot of heart and brain into Somnia, solving new challenges every day to make our vision for the VR game come to life.

The head of the operation, Staty is the one who came up with the idea in the first place and the one tying everything together. Our Unity person with understanding of coding, gaming, and just enough visual feeling to be able to manage all operations. With solid experience in team management, he’s got a huge drive and a responsible, systematic approach. A super hard worker and a man of action, he’s a self-learner who always gets things done.

Art & Marketing

Tami is our go-to for all things visual, art, and marketing. From art direction and concept design to hands-on 3D modeling, she handles it all. Initially, she helped out with the art vision for Somnia still more and more until she fell into it completely and decided to just learn Blender and Unity to drive our art and graphics. She balances out the techy-gamer nature of the team with her artistic perspective, ideas and a huge joy for the magic of building wondrous worlds.

Programming

Our coding perfectionist, Peter has a deep understanding of C# and software architecture and is a firm non-believer in spaghetti code. He loves long, enthusiastic discussions and if there’s one thing that gets him into the zone as much as coding, it’s our team brainstorming sessions. He’s the guy who always brings quirky, out-of-the-box ideas to the table. Passionate about gaining a full understanding of things, he ensures that every line of code he writes is efficient and well-structured.
